Corporations Lobby for—and Benefit from—Climate-Change Restrictions

Guess who wants more government regulation of the energy-producing economy? Big Business. Last year businesses that stand to profit from greenhouse gas emissions controls formed a political coalition with environmental nonprofits. Their new advocacy group is the United States Climate Action Partnership (USCAP). USCAP, which wants Congress to impose the so-called “cap-and-trade” system on American industry, knows a sweet deal when it sees one.
