NEA Gives Liberally ($12 million) to Advocacy GroupsWeek 7
Mike
Antonucci is director of his own one-man shop, the Education Intelligence
Agency. Every week he publishes the Communiqué, a newsletter dedicated to
describing the inner workings of the NEA and the AFT. Checker Finn, president
of the Fordham Foundation, called the Communiqué "by far the best source
in America
about doings inside the unions."
Mr. Antonucci recently reported that for the fiscal 2006-2007 year, the NEA
gave $12 million to advocacy groups: “If you ran a liberal political, advocacy
or research organization and you went to the National Education Association
last year with your hand out, chances are good you came away with a fistful of
dollars.”
The report and Mr. Antonucci’s site can be found here. An interesting
profile in Education Week of the man and his operation can be found here.
